Operating instructions
Make sure that you have read and understood all the safety instructions before starting to use the generator.
If you are in any way unsure regarding the use and maintenance of this generator, consult someone with
the requisite knowledge and experience to help you.
Preparations
The generator is fitted with an earth connection terminal (18). Get in the habit of earthing the generator by
connecting an earth spike driven into the ground to the earth terminal before using it. This provides extra
protection for the user. An RCD can also be connected between the generator and the connected electrical
device/s. If at all unsure about earthing the generator, ask a competent electrician for advice.
Checking the oil level
Note
:
The generator is equipped with an oil level safety cut-off switch which prevents the engine from starting if the oil
level is too low or if the generator is not level. The switch will also cut the engine off if the oil level falls below
the minimum level whilst the generator is in operation.
1. Make sure the generator is on a level surface.
2. Unscrew one of the oil filler caps (9, 12).
3. Wipe the oil off the dipstick located inside the cap.
4. Fully insert the dipstick without screwing the cap back on.
5. Remove the dipstick and check that the oil on the dipstick
is between the marks.
6. If there is too little oil on the dipstick, add more oil until
the oil level is correct.
7. If there is too much oil, undo one of the oil drain plugs (10, 11) and drain off oil until the level is correct.
8. Screw the filler cap back on.
Refuelling
Note:
• Always refuel outdoors.
• Do not fill the tank to the top, the fuel needs room for expansion. A suitable level is to the bottom of the fuel
filter located in the filler cap.
• Petrol is highly flammable.
• Never smoke whilst filling the fuel tank or handling fuel.
• Keep a safe distance away from sparks and naked flames when filling the fuel tank or whenever handling fuel.
• Always switch the generator off and allow it to cool before refuelling.
• Use only fresh and clean petrol with an octane rating of 95 or higher.
1. Clean the area around the fuel tank filler cap and open it carefully.
2. Carefully pour the petrol into the tank and wipe up any spills immediately.
3. Screw the filler cap back on.
Starting the generator
Note:
Confirm that the generator is on a level surface to prevent the oil level sensor from activating the safety
cut-off switch.
1. Disconnect all electrical loads from the generator before switching it on.
2. Turn the fuel shut-off valve (6) to
ON
.
3. Set the choke (4) to
CHOKE
(refer to the markings on the air filter).
4. Set the engine switch (15) to
ON
.
5. Slowly pull the starter handle until a slight resistance is felt. Then pull the handle briskly to start the engine.
6. Once the engine has started and has begun to warm up, set the choke back to
RUN
.
7. Allow the generator to run for about 3 minutes before connecting any electrical devices.
