Connecting DC Power to IW-6300H-DCW-x–K9
Connecting DC Power to IW-6300H-DCW-x–K9
Warning:
When you connect or disconnect the power and/or alarm connector with power applied, an electrical arc
can occur. This could cause an explosion in hazardous area installations. Be sure that all power is removed from the
switch and any other circuits. Be sure that power cannot be accidentally turned on or verify that the area is
nonhazardous before proceeding.
Statement 1058
Warning:
To reduce risk of electric shock, connect the unit only to DC power source that complies with the Safety
Extra-Low Voltage (SELV) requirements in IEC 60950 based safety standards or ES1 requirements in IEC 62368
based safety standards.
Statement 1033
Warning:
This product relies on the building’s installation for short-circuit (overcurrent) protection. Ensure that the
protective device is rated not greater than:
10A
. Statement 1005
To route and connect the ground and DC power cabling to the IW-6300H-DCW-x-K9 access point:
1.
Loosen captive bolts (
1
) with 1/2” or 13-mm socket and open the access point cover.
2.
Fold the access point cover back.
Notes
The installer/integrator is
responsible for supplying the
appropriate certified components
as part of the overall designed
system and must maintain the
access point environmental
integrity of IP66/67 rating.
The water-tight gland device
selected by the
installer/integrator must be equal
to or greater (better) than the
specifications listed for the
device.
1—Terminal block
2—Internal ground
3.
Route the DC power cable through the 1/2” NPT port.
4.
Use a wire stripper tool to remove the insulation from each 14 AWG (1.5mm
2
) wire. Remove only enough wire
to provide a solid connection in the terminal block. The hot wires should have no bare wire exposed after the
connection is made.
5.
Insert ground wire into the internal ground.
6.
Insert each wire into the DC entry terminal block.
7.
Use a Phillips screwdriver to tighten the terminal block set screws to secure the wires in the terminal block.
8.
Verify that no bare wire is exposed. If wire is exposed, remove it from the terminal block, adjust the length, and
reinstall.
9.
Close the access point cover.
