Chapter 3 Power Supply and Fan Module Installation
Tools that You Need
•
The fan module is hot-swappable. When replacing a fan, complete the replacement procedure before
a CLI message shows that the switch is overheating (approximately 5 minutes).

Make sure that all power supply and fan modules are securely seated before you move the switch.
Warning
Do not reach into a vacant slot or chassis while you install or remove a module or a fan. Exposed
circuitry could constitute an energy hazard.

Tools that You Need
You need a flat-blade screwdriver to loosen the captive screws on the power supply and fan modules.
Power Supply Module Overview
The 135-W AC power supply module is an autoranging unit that supports input voltages between 100
and 240 VAC.
The power supply module ships with an 18-AWG power cord.
The switch operates with either one or two active power supply modules. Two installed power supplies
provide redundant power.
