Configuring Universal Workgroup Bridge on a Cisco 3200
To support manageability when the Ethernet client (MARC card) is active, configure the Universal
Workgroup Bridge and Mobile Access Router Card.
To configure Universal Workgroup Bridge and Mobile Access Router Card, follow these steps:
Command
Purpose
Step 1
configure terminal
Enters global configuration mode.
Step 2
interface FastEthernet0.10
encapsulation dot1Q 10
ip address 192.168.1.10 255.255.255.0
no ip route-cache
no snmp trap link-status
bridge-group 10
Create a subinterface under the Fast Ethernet
interface and configure vlan and a bridge group
other than the default bridge-group. The
universal workgroup bridge is manageable
through the IP address configured on this
subinterface.
Step 3
interface BVI1
no ip address
no ip route-cache
Make sure there is no IP address configured on
the BVI.
Step 4
ip default-gateway 192.168.1.20
Configure a default gateway on the universal
workgroup bridge to point to the MARC static
IP address (which will be configured on the
MARC card on either the Fa0/0 subinterface or
the Vlan interface depending on the interface to
which the universal workgroup bridge is
connected to MARC).
Step 5
interface FastEthernet0/0.10
encapsulation dot1Q 10
ip address 192.168.1.20 255.255.255.0
If the universal workgroup bridge is connected
to Fast Ethernet interface of MARC card, create
a subinterface under the Fa0/0 of the MARC
card and configure a dot1q encapsulation and
static IP address. This IP address should be in
the same subnet as the IP address configured on
the universal workgroup bridge Fast Ethernet
interface and will act as a default gateway IP
address for the universal workgroup bridge.
Step 6
interface FastEthernet2/0
switchport mode trunk
interface Vlan10
ip address 192.168.1.20 255.255.255.0
On the MARC card, if the universal workgroup
bridge is connected to one of the FESMIC
ports, configure the FESMIC switch port in
‘trunk’ mode and configure the Vlan interface
with the IP address. The Vlan ID must be the
same as that configured on the universal
workgroup bridge.
