If they are different, you ’ ll likely see the IP address of the router start with one of the following addresses:

This is referred to as a “ double - NAT ” scenario.
Why Does the Gateway Need to be in Bridge Mode?
If the gateway isn ’ t set to bridge mode, the gateway will act as a router and likely block incoming traffic that originates out-
side of the network to the CIS router. This causes problems creating VPN connections to the site and can restrict access to re-
mote support.
The PlatinumDN Service
There are certain situations where enabling bridge mode on the ISP ’ s device isn ’ t practical. Systems that make use of wireless
TV boxes and some PPPoE - based systems may operate better out of bridge mode. CIS offers the PlatinumDN service that can
allow VPN connections into systems that are in a double - NAT scenario. Call us for more information.
The Support Address
At the bottom of the status page, you will see a section called CIS Platinum Support . This is an IP address the CIS support team
can use to quickly access the router ’ s configuration when assistance is required. In some situations, you may be asked to pre-
sent this number.
Is the Gateway in Bridge Mode?
From the status page of the router, check if the ISP Public Address and the CIS Router IP Address match. If they do, the
gateway or modem from the ISP is set to bridge mode.
