EFFECTIVITY:
CAUTION:
Do not allow Flashbreaker tape to contact airplane finish during cure pro-
cess.
(g)
Place Flashbreaker tape on top of the thermocouple probe masking tape locations.
(h)
Place thermocouple on top of Flashbreaker tape.
(i)
To prevent the thermocouple from coming loose, place Flashbreaker tape on top of the
thermocouple.
(j)
Place breather insulation on top of the Flashbreaker tape.
(k)
To prevent direct air from making contact with the thermocouple, place Flashbreaker tape
on top of the thermocouple.
(l)
Connect the probes to the thermocouple monitor.
(m)
Turn thermocouple monitor ON. Make sure the channels connected are indicating properly
and the monitor indicates the correct thermocouple type.
(n)
Set thermocouple monitoring system to record temperatures once per minute.
(o)
Connect electronic temperature control unit to power.
(p)
Connect hot air dryer to electronic temperature control unit.
(q)
Connect thermocouple probes to the electronic temperature control unit.
(r)
Turn electronic temperature control unit ON. Set electronic temperature control unit to
desired shut-off temperature.
(s)
Turn blow dryer on and, if necessary, cover enclosure with insulation to achieve specific
cure temperature readings on thermocouple reader.
(t)
When cure temperature is stabilized, press the PRINT button on the thermocouple monitor
to begin recording cure cycle temperatures.
CAUTION:
During cure cycle, repair plies should be observed frequently. Any air
trapped within repair will expand when heat is applied and it is necessary to
deflate any bubbles that form. Puncture bubbles with pin and push ply down
with a brush. This must be done before resin solidifies.
Note:
If temperature readings fall below specified cure temperature, that time can-
not be counted as part of the cure time.
(u)
Cure repair for specified time and temperature.
(v)
Stop temperature recording, turn off blow dryer, remove enclosure, and remove thermo-
couple probes and electronic temperature control unit.
(w)
Print recorded temperatures from computer. Title, copy, and retain temperature printouts.
