Auger Brazing
The auger should be brazed if it is necessary to splice or lengthen it. A bronze, flux coated rod is recommended.
The ends of the auger should butt against each other, DO NOT THREAD INSIDE EACH OTHER. See
Figure
36
. The joint should be well filled with no sharp edges or rough corners to wear against the tube. To align the auger
for brazing, lay it in angle or channel iron and clamp it firmly in place. Use low heat. Allow the joint to air cool;
rapid cooling will cause the auger to become brittle.
