Operation
For use as a Hammer Drill:
CAUTION:
Use only impact grade bits, designed for hammer drills. Standard bits may
break under the force created by this tool. Impact grade bits are available from
Harbor Freight Tools.
1.
The Auxiliary Handle must be installed for additional stability when Hammer
Drilling. Always use both hands to hold this tool during hammer drill
operation.
To install Axillary Handle, loosen the screw on the side of the assembly.
Slide the Auxiliary Handle assembly over the aluminum portion of the tool, as
shown in the photograph. Adjust the length of the Depth Gauge Rod to stop the
drilling process when the correct hole depth is reached. Tighten the assembly in
place by turning the handle
clockwise. The handle may be
installed on either the right or left
side of the tool.
2.
Select and install an appropriate drill
bit. Do this by opening the jaws of
the Chuck using the Chuck Key.
Insert the butt end of the drill bit
into the center of the Chuck. Rotate
the Chuck to close the Jaws on the
drill bit. Be sure that the bit is
centered in the Chuck Jaws.
Tighten in place using the Chuck
Key.
3.
Move the Torque Selection Ring to
the Hammer Drill setting. Please see picture on page 7 for reference. This setting
will allow the drill to hammer as well as turn.
4.
This tool has two Gear Settings, Low and High. Please refer to photo on page 7.
With the Gear Selector moved forward in High position the maximum blows per
minute is 19,200 BPM and rotation is 1,290 RPM. With the selector back in the
Low position, the maximum speed is 5,280 BPM and 360 RPM.
5.
The Hammer Drill is best suited for drilling into hard materials such as concrete
or masonry. Select an appropriate size and type hammer drill bit (not included).
Insert it onto the Chuck and tighten securely. Be sure the drill bit is properly
inserted and tight before proceeding.
Warning:
Always wear ANSI approved safety glasses and full face shield when
hammer drilling, as removed material will fly uncontrollably, possibly causing
injury.
Caution:
Always check around and behind the area being drilled to prevent
drilling into wires, pipes or causing other unintentional property damage.
