BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME
1. Carefully unpack the Panini Grill and remove all packaging and materials.
2.
Place the Panini Grill on a dry, clean and flat surface. Keep the Panini Grill closed
until use.
3. Make sure the removable drip tray is fully
inserted into the front of the unit.
4. Use the lid handle to lift the upper grill plate.
5. Adjust tension at the rear hinges to set the point
at which the top grill plate will remain open while
operating. Rotate the adjusting screw cover on
the back of the unit to expose the adjusting
screw. (See Figure 2)
6. Insert an allen wrench into the exposed screw. Turn clockwise to increase the
handle tension. Turn counter-clockwise to reduce tension. Test to make sure the
Panini Grill lid rests at the appropriate angle when open. Adjust as needed.
7. Turn adjusting screw cover to its original position.
8. Condition panini grill plates following the detailed procedures below.
NOTE:
After seasoning, some smoke and odor are normal and will not affect the
performance of the Panini Grill.
CONDITIONING PANINI GRILL PLATES
Keeping your cast iron panini grill plates seasoned is an important step to help
ensure stick-resistant plates.
1.
Place the Panini Grill on a dry, clean and flat surface, in a well-ventilated area.
Clean the cast iron cooking plates with using cloth, warm, soapy water
2. Make sure the ON/OFF (I/O) switch is in the OFF (O) position. Plug the Panini Grill
into a 120V AC electrical outlet.
3. As the ON/OFF (I/O) switch is pressed to ON (I), it will illuminate red.
4. Turn the thermostat knob to maximum setting. The red heating light will illuminate.
5. Let the grill heat for 60 minutes at high temperature. This will dry off any
remaining moisture and will burn-off all factory sediments from within the grill or
on the grill surface.
NOTE:
The unit will visibly smoke and also remit odor as it continues to burn
down-off the factory sediments. This is normal. This entire process of burn-off will
take approximately 60 minutes.
6. When the burn-off has completed and the smoking has stopped, press the ON/
OFF (I/O) switch OFF (O) and unplug from the electric outlet. Allow the grill to
cool down for approximately 60 minutes.
7. When the unit has cooled down, plug the power cord back into the outlet, press
the ON/OFF (I/O) switch to turn the unit ON (I).
8. Once the unit is preheated and the red HEATING light turns OFF (O), pour a
thin layer of shortening, fat or lard onto the center of the grill plate. Wearing a
protective cooking mitt, use a cotton cloth or paper towel to spread the fat or oil
evenly over the plate.
NOTE:
Extreme caution must be taken by thorough drying the grill to the surface
before turning the unit ON (I) if liquid vegetable oil is used for seasoning.
