Rapid descents at high RPM / low MAPs are to be avoided.
Do not permit CHTs to drop below 300ºF for periods exceeding 5
minutes.
TRAFFIC PATTERN
39.
For easy transition to final approach speeds it is recommended that pilots slow to
approximately 125 MPH upon entering the traffic pattern. Specific guidance on the traffic
pattern is as follows:
a.
slowing to approximately 125 MPH can be accomplished with a power setting of
2400 RPM and 20” MAP;
b.
if desired, a slower airspeed of approximately 115 MPH can be achieved with
power setting of 2400 RPM and 18” MAP. At this airspeed, it is recommended to
select flaps to 10 degrees to prevent an excessive nose-up attitude in the circuit;
and
c.
if desired, higher throttle settings / higher airspeeds may be used, but will require
careful circuit planning to permit deceleration to Vfe without creating an unusually
high / fast final approach.
