PREVENT BURNS
Hot spraying fluids:
•
After operation, engine coolant is hot and under
pressure. Hot water or steam is contained in the
engine, radiator and heater lines.
Skin contact with escaping hot water or steam can
cause severe burns.
- To prevent possible injury from hot spraying water.
- Be sure to stop the engine, and let engine and
radiator cool.
Slowly loosen the cap to release pressure after
the system has cooled, then remove it.
- The hydraulic oil tank is pressurized. Again, be
sure to release all pressure before removing the
cap.
Hot fluids and surfaces:
• Engine oil, reduction gear oil and hydraulic oil also
become hot during operation.
The engine, hoses, lines and other parts become
hot as well.
- Wait for the oil and components to cool down
before starting any maintenance or inspection
work.

AVOID HIGH PRESSURE FLUIDS
• Escaping fluid under pressure can penetrate the skin
causing serious injury.
- Avoid this hazard by relieving pressure before
disconnecting hydraulic or other lines.
- Relieve the pressure by moving the control levers
several times. Tighten all connections before
applying pressure.
- Search for leaks with a piece of cardboard; take
care to protect hands and body from high-pressure
fluids. Wear a shield or protection glasses to
protect your eyes.
• If an accident occurs, see a doctor familiar with this
type of injury immediately.
• Any fluid injected into the skin must be surgically
removed within a few hours or gangrene may result.
