12. Disposal
This symbol indicates that the product must be
disposed of in a separate waste collection within
the European Union. This applies to the product
and all accessories marked with this symbol.
Products marked as such may not be discarded
with normal domestic waste, but must be taken to
a collection point for recycling electrical and
electronic devices.
Packaging
If you want to dispose of the packaging, make sure
you comply with the environmental regulations
applicable in your country.
The nickel-metal hydride batteries used for this
device may not be treated as household waste.
The batteries must be disposed of properly. Contact
battery distributors or local waste disposal points
for this.
• Please dispose of the little trimmer oil bottle only when
completely empty.
Removing the batteries
This device is operated with two rechargeable nickel-metal-
hydride batteries, which you must remove before disposing
of the device.
DANGER!
• You must be technically minded to remove the
batteries, otherwise there is the danger of injuring
yourself! If you do not have any experience with
tools, you should have the batteries removed by
a person who is qualified to do this.
NiMH
• Ensure that the batteries are not damaged when you
remove them. Fire hazard!
• The removed batteries must not be disassembled.
• Never short-circuit the batteries. The contacts on the
removed batteries must not be connected by metallic
objects. The batteries may overheat and explode.
WARNING!
Only remove the batteries to dispose of the
device. The device is destroyed by removing the batteries.
Never try to operate a disassembled device.
1. Disconnect the device from the mains.
2. Switch on the device and let it run until the batteries are
empty.
NOTE:
even after discharging, the batteries have some
residual charge left in them. Repeated switching on and
having the motor in running state will empty the batteries
completely.
3. Remove the cutting attachment from the device.
4. Loosen the 4 screws at the bottom of the device with
a Philips screwdriver.
5. Take the bottom off.
6. Take the interior out of the device and turn it around.
7. The battery pack is glued to the device. Remove it.
Take the batteries and the device separately to suitable
disposal.
