E
Never operate the vehicle near riv-
ers, ponds or lakes, to avoid the risk
of the Carrera RC car falling into the
water. Avoid running on courses which
are laid exclusively with sand.
F
Do not expose the Carrera RC vehi-
cle to direct sunlight. To avoid the
electronics in the car overheating, when
temperatures are above 35 ° C, regular
short pauses in operation are essential.
G
Never subject the Carrera car to re-
peated changes of load – that means
continuously reversing it.
H
Always place the car on the floor by
hand. Never throw the car on the
floor from a standing position.
I
Avoid jumping from jumps or ramps
higher than 3 cm (0.1 ft.).
K
Never use strong solvents for clean-
ing the car.
L
To avoid malfunctions to the control
system resulting in uncontrolled op-
eration of the Carrera RC vehicle, check
that the controller batteries and the re-
chargeable batteries in the vehicle have
sufficient charge.
Supply terminals are not to be short-cir-
cuited.
M
The Carrera RC vehicle must be in-
spected before and after operation,
each time it is used, to ensure that it has
not become disassembled. Any screws
or nuts that may have become loosened
during operation must be tightened.
Instruction Manual
Contents of package
1
1 x Carrera RC Vehicle
1 x Controller
1 x USB charging cable
2 x 1.5 V Micro AAA batteries (non-rechargeable)
1 x 3,7V 120mAh LiPo rechargeable battery (installed)
Recharging the LiPo
rechargeable battery
Make sure you only charge the LiPo re-
chargeable battery supplied with the LiPo
charging unit also supplied (USB cable).
In case you try to charge the rechargeable
battery with a different LiPo battery charg-
er or any other battery charger, this might
cause serious damages. Please carefully
read the previous chapter about warnings
and guidelines on the usage of recharge-
able batteries before proceeding.
The rechargeable battery fitted in the car
with its USB charging cable can be
charged from a USB port on a computer:
2
Charging via computer:
• Connect the USB charging cable with
the USB port of a computer. The LED
on the USB charger cable lights green
indicating that the charger unit is cor-
rectly connected to the computer.
If you plug in a vehicle with a discharged
battery, the LED on the USB charging
cable does not light up; this shows that
the vehicle battery is being charged.
The USB charging cable and the charg-
ing socket on the car are designed to
make incorrect connection impossible.
• It takes about 40 minutes to recharge a
discharged battery (but NOT a deep-
discharged one). When the battery is
fully charged, the LED display in the
USB charging cable lights up green
again.
Note: When supplied, the lipo-battery
is already partially charged so the first
charging cycle may well take less
time.
It is essential to follow the connection
sequence given above! If you have the
charger cable only connected to the
vehicle and not to a source of electric-
ity, please note the following: The
green LED display does not necessar-
ily indicate the battery is still ade-
quately charged.
While charging, the power switch
must be in the “OFF” position.
Inserting the batteries in the controller
3
Open the battery compartment with a screwdriver. Press
the release button and take the battery compartment out of
the controller. Please keep in mind the correct polarity. Different
types of batteries or new and used batteries are not to be mixed.
Push the battery compartment back into the controller until it
latches in place. If necessary, screw the battery compartment in
place with a screwdriver.
Now you can drive the car
Bonding vehicle and controller
The Carrera RC car and the remote control are bound as a factory
setting.
4
1. Switch the car ON at the ON/OFF switch.
The LED of the car will flash rhythmically.
5
2. Switch on the controller. The LED on top of the controller
will flash rhythmically.
After a few seconds, the LEDs on the car and on the controller will
light continuously, meaning the bind has been made.
Adjusting the steering
6
If when using the Carrera RC vehicle, it starts to pull to
right or left, it can be corrected to run straight as follows.
•
Bond vehicle and controller as described in section
4
5
.
•
Press the button underneath the controller wheel for about two
seconds. Adjusting mode is active as soon as the controller LED
flashes.
• Straight running can be adjusted with the controller wheel.
• To complete the adjusting process, press the button underneath
the controller wheel again for about 2 seconds.
Let’s practise!
7
CAUTION! This vehicle reaches speeds up to 15 km/h
(9 mph).
Practice on an empty surface at least 2,5 metres
(8,2’) square.
When first starting, be very careful when operat-
ing the gas pedal.
8
Now it’s time to practise! Set up a Carrera RC vehicle rac-
ing track in a large empty area, using cornerposts, empty
cans, or similar objects. The basic technique to adopt when oper-
ating a Carrera RC is to drive fast on the straight sections and to
slow down in the curves.
• Avoid constant motor operation.
• If the car switches itself off several times one after another,
the battery is dead. Please recharge the battery.
• After a few minutes inactivity, the controller and vehicle
switch off automatically. To restart, switch the ON/OFF
switch on the controller & the car to OFF and then back
to ON.
• To switch off after use, follow the steps in the reverse order.
• Always recharge the battery after use to prevent its be-
coming deep discharged. After use, the battery must be
allowed to cool down for at least 20 minutes before it can
be fully recharged.
• Clean the Carrera RC car after use.
Controller functions
9
When the controller is switched on, the red LED lamps at
the front of the controller are lit.
10
Control digital proportional
You can carry out precise steering and driving manoeuvres
Gas pedal to the rear: forwards
Gas pedal to the front: braking, or backwards
Turn the steering wheel clockwise: right
Turn the steering wheel anti-clockwise: left
11
Special function on police cars
To activate the blue light, press briefly on the button underneath
the controller wheel. Deactivate the blue light by pressing briefly
on the button underneath the controller wheel again.
12
Thanks to 2.4 GHz technology, up to 8 cars can be run to-
gether on one race-track. This is possible even without
harmonising frequencies between the racing drivers.
