3.1 Wall mounting
Warnings
Disconnect the 24 Vac power supply before all installation or maintenance operations on the µAM.
Avoid places where the ambient temperature measurement may be altered, for example outside walls,
near doors leading to the outside, exposure to sunlight.
Avoid installation in environments with the following characteristics:
Relative humidity outside of the declared limits;
Strong vibrations or knocks;
Exposure to water sprays;
Exposure to aggressive and polluting atmospheres (e.g. sulphur or ammonia fumes, saline mist, smoke)
so as to avoid corrosion and oxidisation;
Strong magnetic and/or radio interference (therefore avoid installing the unit near transmitting
antennae);
Exposure to direct sunlight or the elements in general;
Large and rapid fluctuations in ambient temperature;
Environments where explosives or mixes of flammable gases are present;
Exposure to dust (formation of corrosive patina with possible oxidation and reduction of insulation).
Information
µAM must be fastened to the wall so as to allow the recirculation of air through the slits on the rear shell.
The temperature and humidity sensors are very sensitive and are calibrated for recirculation of air in
normal environments: if there is no recirculation or if the flow of air is excessive, the precision of measu-
rement may decline.
µAM should be installed using a 503E type switch box, compliant with standards CEI C.431 - IEC 670.
If no similar switch box is available, fasten the rear of the terminal to the wall using the screws and plugs
supplied.
Procedure
Open µAM pressing tab A in the direction of the display - this is fitted into the slot on the bottom centre of
the box - then turn the front panel outwards at the same time; use a flat-head screwdriver (Fig. 3.a);
pass the connection cables through the hole in the centre of the rear shell;
fasten the rear shell of the µAM to the switch box; for installation without the switch box, use the fastening
holes on the shell as the reference for drilling the wall; then fasten using the screws supplied (see also
Fig 3.b);
make the data line and power supply connections, as described in the following paragraphs.
3.2 Data line connections
Information
µAM communicates via RS485 data line with the µC
2
SE (chiller/hp controller) and with a maximum of 10
master e-drofan units (fan coil controllers).
Each master e-drofan communicates with an acqua or e-droset terminal and with a maximum of 5 slave
e-drofan units, via the CAREL tLAN data line.
To connect a master e-drofan and the µC
2
SE controller to the µAM RS485 data line, the following RS485
serial interfaces are required:

Warnings
The data line connections must only be performed by a qualified electrician.
The RS485 data line can only be connected to SELV circuits.
Information
Do not branch the data line.
Use a shielded twisted pair with wire size AWG 20-22. The maximum length of the cables must not
exceed 1000 m. The capacitance between the wires must not exceed 90 pF/m. The line must be made as
shown in Figure 3.c.
Use cable ends suitable for the corresponding terminals.
Procedure
insert the cable into the rear shell through the hole in the centre;
fit the cable ends on the cable wires;
connect the wires to terminals TX+, TX- (pair) and connect the shield to GND
connect a 120
Ω
terminal resistor between the TX+ and TX- wires on the device connected to the
opposite end of the line from the µAM.
