Pulling in the stairs:
• Start with pulling an empty mattress down the stairs, in order to practice the technique.
• When training with a person on the mattress, a string or rope can be fasten in the handles at
the head end. A second person can then walk behind the mattress and help out if problems
should occur.
• It is advisable to practice in the same stairs where an evacuation can be necessary.

Because of the heavy strain on the equipment when evacuating, always check the seams and
handles at the end of training.
Explanations
• If the velcro straps are not used, there is a risk of the user sliding/rolling down from the
mattress.
• Pulling at the foot end reduces the strain on the puller, which means faster and safer
evacuation is possible.
• Pulling in the stairs is the most difficult part of the evacuation.
• The arms of the user shall be inside of the velcro straps. This reduces the risk of the user
grabbing hold of something out of fear.

2 Product description and performance
Optimal Evacuation sheet makes it possible to evacuate and move bed bound people out of
danger. It can also be used when evacuating in stairs.
Optimal Evacuation sheet is placed under the mattress and is attached to the mattress with
elastic straps. It is easy to make the bed with the evacuation sheet in it and it is available in
many different sizes, in order to fit most mattresses. It has an ergonomic design and is
produced from strong materials that easily glide on dry and wet surfaces. It is also equipped
with handles for side movements.
It is a simple and safe aid for evacuation. It meets the demands of the Swedish standard (SS
876 00 39) for evacuation sheets.

3 Unpacking and installation
3.1 Unpacking
Check that the package is undamaged. If any damages are found, contact your local distributor
before using the product.
3.2 Installation
• The evacuation sheet is placed under the mattress. It does not matter what side is at the
foot and head end.
