Troubleshooting
Symptom
Check
Action
The status
indicator does not
turn on.
Is the power turned on?
Turn on the power.
Is the power cable correctly
connected?
Connect the power cable correctly.
The error indicator
is lit on.
-
Use the Non-Contact Displacement Sensor
software to check the content of the error, and
take action accordingly.
The error indicator
is blinking.
-
A warning has occurred. Use the Non-Contact
Displacement Sensor software to check the
content of the warning, and take action
accordingly.
The length
measurement
value seems
wrong.
Is the main unit mounted in the correct
direction to the moving direction of the
target measurement object?
Mount the main unit in the correct direction to the
moving direction of the target measurement
object? (See 1-4-2)
Is the measurement distance
adjustment tool inserted?
Length cannot be measured if the measurement
distance adjustment tool is inserted. After
installation and adjustment are complete, remove
the measurement distance adjustment tool.
Is the target measurement object
placed within the measurement
distance of the main unit?
Place the target measurement object within the
measurement distance of the main unit.
Is the main unit mounted with an angle
to the target measurement object?
Mount the main unit horizontally to the target
measurement object.
(An approximate guide is ±2°.) Alternatively, follow
2-3. Calibration to correct the length measurement
value.
Is the width of the target measurement
object small (20 mm or less) and out of
the light receiving area?
Place the target measurement object within the
light receiving area.
* The measurement distance adjustment tool
makes it easier to place the object.
Is the optical window dirty?
Remove dirt.
Is the optical window scratched or
broken?
The optical window needs to be replaced. We will
fix it. Please contact our customer support.
Is there strong ambient light?
Block ambient light.
Is the main unit or target measurement
object vibrating?
- If the main unit vibrates independently of the
target measurement object, it detects a motion
other than that of the target measurement object,
and the error becomes large.
- If the target measurement object vibrates or
meanders, only the length measurement direction
is detected from the tracks of the target
measurement object, and the error becomes large.
If the target measurement object vibrates beyond
the tolerance of the measurement distance, the
error becomes large.
Has condensation occurred?
The equipment cannot be used stably if
condensation occurs.
Is the ambient temperature out of
specifications?
Use the equipment within the specified
temperature range.
Is there a hole on the target
measurement object?
If there is a hole larger than the light receiving
area on the target measurement object, the length
cannot be measured due to the hole. (A warning is
output.)
- Install the equipment again so that the range to
be measured and the hole do not match.
Light beam is not
emitted.
Are the USB cable and I/O cable
correctly connected?
Connect the USB cable and I/O cable correctly.
Is the length measurement start trigger
correctly input?
Input the length measurement start trigger
correctly.
See 2-2-2. Setting the trigger.
Pulse is not
correctly output.
Is the wiring correct?
Check the wiring and connect the cables correctly.
Is the response frequency of the
counter exceeded?
If the target measurement object moves fast
(4,000 mm/s or faster) and the pulse resolution is
