2.4.1 Basic Operation

a.Initial Operation
When the power is turned on, the machine rotates the pickup motor in its normal direction
while keeping the pickup clutch on; thus, moving up the pickup roller as shown in the
figure.
The machine also executes this operation when a job ends and when the feeder cover is
open/closed.

When the Start key is pressed with an original placed in the original tray, the machine
operates as follows to pick up the original:

When the pickup motor (M2) rotates in reverse, the pickup roller unit moves down to rotate
the pickup roller, thus moving the original. The stopper moves up operating in conjunction
with the pickup roller unit. The machine uses the separation plate and the separation pad to
prevent double-feeding of originals.
