Using Non-Managed Mode

To use the 3240S in non-managed, or manual, mode, check these front-panel switch settings:

•

Set the MODE switch to NOR for normal operation. You must change this switch manually for
local or remote system loopback.

•

For a point-to-point application, set the MAST/SLV switches on both multiplexers to MAST.

•

For a master/slave ring application, set the Master/Slave switch on one unit to MAST and all
others to SLV.

•

If included, set the redundant optics switch to AUTO for normal operation, unless forcing
primary or secondary function.

To check the operation of the multiplexers, send data over the link and check that it is received
correctly.
