TROUBLESHOOTING & FAQ'S
1. Downrigger does not turn "on".
• Check polarity on Power Cable.
• Check Circuit Breaker(s).
2. Downrigger does not count the amount of Line retrieved correctly.
• Check Line Counter.
3. The Clutch slips.
• Re-tighten the Clutch Knob. The Clutch Knob should be just tight enough that the Clutch does not slip when the downrigger is
in normal use. Do not use tools of any kind to tighten the Clutch, hand tightening should always be sufficient. Check the Clutch
Pad condition by removing Side Cover and Spool. Replace if necessary. See the Service and Maintenance section of this document
for instructions.
4. Does the Magnum support Braid and Mono line?
• Yes – Short stop and PIC will no longer function with Braided or Mono line. When using the Auto up feature the Weight will stop
when the line counter reaches zero.
5. What is the maximum weight that can be used on a Cannon downrigger?
• Optimum, Optimum TS, Digi-Troll 10, Digi-Troll 10 TS, Digi-Troll 5, Digi-Troll 5 TS, Magnum 10, Magnum 10 TS, Magnum 5,
Uni-Troll 10, Uni-Troll 10 TS an Uni-Troll 5 ST all have a weight capacity of 20 lbs.
• Easi-Troll ST is 12lb
• Lake-Troll is 8lb
6. How do you keep the Line alignment straight to keep it
from stacking on one side of the Spool.
• The simple fix is to use the ball hook on the boom as a level
wind by adjusting the angle of the hook to guide the line
in straight.
7. What Power Cable is needed for replacement on a Cannon electric downrigger?
• Cannon item number 1903017 is the replacement battery side Power Cable
• Cannon item number 3393222 is the replacement downrigger side Power Cable
• Cannon item number 3883220 is the replacement Power Cable kit (downrigger side and battery side)
