IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
When using an electric appliance, basic precautions should always be followed, including the following:

To reduce the risk of
fire, electrical shock, or
injury when using your central vacuum, follow these basic
precautions:
Do not use on wet surfaces.
Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary
when used by or near children.
Use only as described in this manual. Use only manufacturer’s
recommended attachments.
Do not use with damaged cord or plug. If appliance is not
working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, or exposed
to water, have it inspected by an authorized service
technician.
Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord as a handle, close a
door on cord, or pull cord around sharp edges or corners.
Keep cord away from heated surfaces.
Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the plug,
not the cord.
Do not handle plug, central vacuum, or powered accessories
with wet hands.
Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with any
opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that
may reduce air

Keep hair, loose clothing,
fingers, and all parts of body away
from openings and moving parts.

controls before unplugging.
Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.
Do not use to pick up
flammable or combustible liquids, such as
gasoline, or use in areas where they may be present.
Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as
cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.
The accessory hose contains electrical wires. Do not use when
damaged, cut, or punctured. Avoid picking up sharp objects.
Connect to a properly grounded outlet only. See grounding
instructions.
Do not use without dust bag and/or
filters in place.

GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
GROUND
This central vacuum must be grounded. If it should malfunction or breakdown, grounding provides a path of
least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock. This central vacuum is
equippe
d with
a cord having an
equipment-groundin
g conductor and grounding plug. The plug must be inserted into an
appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.

Flow through motors, (some models) have a thermal switch integrated with the motor windings. If insu
ffi
cient air
fl
ows across the motor
windings, such as in the case when running the system with a blocked hose, or full vacuum bag, or with all wall valves closed and no
hose attached, the thermal cut-o
ff
switch may activate. If the central vacuum suddenly shuts o
ff
by itself during prolonged use, unplug
and allow up to 2 hours to cool down. The thermal switch will automatically reset only when power is removed and the unit has
su
ffi
ciently cooled down. If this occurs, follow the troubleshooting steps on Page 8.
Note Regarding Motor Thermal Cut-Out Switch
- Improper connection of the equipment-
grounding conductor can result in a risk
of electric shock. Check with a qualifi
ed
electrician or service person if you are
in doubt as to whether the outlet is
properly grounded. Do not modify the
plug provided with the central vacuum
- If it will not
fi
t the outlet, have a proper
outlet installed by a qualifi
ed electrician.
Electrical Shock Hazard
Plug into a grounded 3 prong outlet.
Do not remove ground prong.
Do not use an adapter.
Do not use an extension cord.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in
death or electric shock.
WARNING
This central vacuum is for use on a nominal 120 V circuit and has
a grounding attachment plug that looks like the plug illustrated in
Figure 1. Make sure that the central vacuum is connected to an
outlet having the same configuration as the plug in Figure 2.
Outlets as shown in Figure 3 are not to be used.
No adapter should be used with this central vacuum.
