CHAPTER 3

INSTALLATION

This chapter describes how to unpack, handle, and install the
TRMIM-62A. It also describes how to attach Token Ring stations to the
TRMIM-62A.

3.1 UNPACKING AND HANDLING THE TRMIM-62A

To unpack the TRMIM-62A:

1. Carefully remove the TRMIM-62A and other items from the shipping

box. Save the box and packaging materials for possible future
repackaging and shipment. You should have the following items:

TRMIM-62A 12-port Token Ring module

Disposable grounding wriststrap

TRMIM-62A User’s Guide

2. Put on the grounding wriststrap. Remove the TRMIM-62A from the

protective bag and place it on top of the bag in a dry, static-free,
dust-free area.

3. Visually inspect the shipment for any signs of damage. Notify

Cabletron Systems Technical Support, as described in Section 1.1 if
you detect any damage or missing parts.

!

C AUT IO N

Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) can damage the TRMIM-62A. To
prevent ESD damage when handling the module: wear the
grounding wriststrap, hold only the edges of the board or the
metal front panel, and avoid touching the components or the
surface of the board.
