DLEHF-MA User’s Guide

100BASE-FX FIBER OPTIC NETWORK

Ports 1 and 2 of the DLEHF-MA support the DIGITAL DELFX-UI and 
DELF3-UI fiber optic interface modules. The device at the other end of 
the fiber optic segment must support the 100BASE-FX Fast Ethernet 
operations. The cabling between the devices must meet the test criteria for 
a 100BASE-FX link for the devices to operate at 100 Mbps. Refer to the 
Cabletron Cabling Guide or DIGITAL OPEN DECconnect Applications 
Guide for details.

Multimode Mode Fiber Optic Cable

The test characteristics of a 100BASE-FX segment are covered in the 
Cabletron Cabling Guide or DIGITAL OPEN DECconnect Applications 
Guide. 

Single Mode Fiber Cable

The test characteristics of a single mode fiber optic link are similar to 
those for a multimode fiber optic 100BASE-FX link, with the following 
exceptions:

•

Cable type 8.3/125 µm

•

Maximum Length - no more than 5 km from Data Terminal Equipment 
(DTE) to DTE in half duplex mode, or 20 km from DTE to DTE in full 
duplex mode.
