AUTOMATIC CHARGE (if present)
By means of a microprocessor electronic circuit the system can check the battery voltage parameters. The LED messages
enable to check the charge status, the wrong operations , and anomalies that might occur during the recharge process. It is
also possible to charge Buffer, Auto and Traction batteries with free electrolyte.
To charge follow instructions in points A and B (ordinary charge) and indications on the tool and on enclosure A.
START (if present)
In battery chargers with the START function, help in starting the vehicle is possible whenever the battery does not have
enough power to turn the starter motor. It is advisable to
carry out a fast battery charge
before switching to the start
position Fig. 3.
In models with TIMER a fast charge can be carried out by setting the desired recharge time. When the charge is over rotate
the knob counterclockwise, to the DIRECT position, and start. Fig. 4
In models with remote control, turn the selector to “REMOTE START”, press the pushbutton and start the vehicle.
In models equipped with AUTOMATIC START follow instructions in enclosure B.
Follow the work/pause cycles given on the appliance
. In conditions of degraded battery and inefficient vehicle, do not
insist with prolonged starts as this could affect the good operation of the battery charger and the elements inside the
battery.
PROTECTION
This appliance is equipped with protection against overcharging, short-circuits between the output clamps and polarity
inversion in the battery clamps.
A) Replacing the fuse:
•
When replacing the fuse, only use our original replacement parts. Fig. 8
•
Replacing the fuse with current values differing to the original could cause damage to persons or things, and thus
invalidate the battery charger warranty.
•
For the same reasons NEVER restore the protection circuit with bridges in copper or other material.
•
Turn the appliance off and disconnect the feed cable from the mains outlet before carrying out any fuse replacement
operation.
•
Access to the fuse for its removal or replacement is only possible with the use of a tool. Fig. 9
B) Reset of heat protection:
•
In battery chargers equipped with thermostatic overcharge protection, wait a few minutes for automatic resetting after
its intervention.
•
In models equipped with heat fuse, situated inside the transformer, replacement must be carried out by specialized
personnel.
