Risk of fire and explosion due to faulty battery
The safety electronics on a damaged or faulty battery
may fail. The residual voltage can cause a short
circuit. The battery may self-ignite and explode.
Remove batteries with external damage from
service immediately and never charge them.
If the battery becomes deformed or begins to
smoke, keep at a safe distance, disconnect the
power supply at the socket, and notify the fire
service immediately.
Never extinguish a damaged battery with water or
allow it to come into contact with water.
If a battery is dropped or struck but shows no signs
of external damage, remove it from service and
observe it for at least 24 hours.
Faulty batteries are hazardous goods. Dispose of
faulty batteries properly and as quickly as possible.
Store in a dry place until disposal. Never store in
the vicinity of flammable substances.
Never open or repair the battery.
Chemical burns to the skin and eyes caused by
faulty battery
Liquids and vapours may leak from a damaged or
faulty battery. They can irritate the airways and cause
burns.
Avoid contact with leaked liquids.
Immediately consult a doctor in case of contact with
the eyes or any discomfort.
In case of contact with the skin, rinse off
immediately with water.
Ventilate the room well.
