3.5 Care, Storage and Maintenance
The MBL lithium battery can be cleaned with commercially available cleaning
agents that are suitable for plastics. Always clean the battery with the lid clo-
sed, do not allow liquids to enter the inside of the battery. The battery should
be washed after the usage, if it got in contact with salted water.
Caution:
• Avoid long term storage at 100% full charge level. Unlike
lead acid batteries, this can seriously degrade the available
capacity of the lithium battery. Instead charge to between
30% to 50% only if the battery is to be left unused for a
longer duration. For storage times longer than 4 months the
battery can benefit from another partial recharge to the 30%
to 50% level during the storage period.
• Store the MBL lithium battery in a dry place without direct
sunlight.
• Store the MBL lithium battery in a safe place out of the reach
of children.
• The optimum storage temperature is between 10ºC and 25ºC
(max. -10 ºC to + 40 ºC) to ensure maximum battery life.
• For longer periods of non-use over 6 months, it is recom-
mended to partially charge the battery to approximately 40%
at least once in 6 months, in order to keep its life expectancy
as long as possible.
