9. Raise or lower the hoist until just the weight of the
alternator is supported by the lifting lug (Fig. 67).

10. On the outside corners of the rear bearing
carrier, tap the carrier evenly on all four corners
with a 52 oz. dead-blow hammer (Fig. 68).

NOTE
: This will move the rear bearing carrier
away from the rotor bearing. During this process,
the stator can will separate from the rear bearing
carrier (while the rotor bearing has not yet come
free). When this occurs, begin tapping the lifting
lug on the stator can as well as the corners of
the carrier.
11. Alternate tapping on the lifting lug and the
corners of the rear bearing carrier until the stator
can comes free of the engine adaptor (Fig. 69).

12. Slide the rear bearing carrier and the stator off of
the rotor (Fig. 70).

This leaves the rotor attached to the engine output shaft.
CAUTION
: Do not lift the entire engine/alternator/base
with this hook. Damage to the unit may occur.
CAUTION
: Do not damage the internal
generator wiring during this process.
