Clean spark arrester and muffler adapter.

Check spark arrester and muffler adapter for holes,
cracks or breakage.

Replace any damaged parts with new original
equipment parts. Never reinstall broken or damaged
components.

Install Spark Arrester

Install muffler adapter (F) and spark arrester (E) using
two screws (D). Tighten screws to the torque value
listed in

Section 14 - Engine Specifications.

Muffler

Remove Muffler

Remove the muffler deflector as instructed in

Remove

muffler deflector.

Remove two screws (A) and then remove the muffler
guard (B).

Remove two nuts (M) and then remove the muffler (N)
and gasket (L).

Inspect muffler

Check the muffler, tube and flange for cracked welds
or breakage.

Check the muffler for split seams, loose internal parts,
or cracked welds.

Replace any damaged parts with new original
equipment parts. Never reinstall broken or damaged
components.

Install Muffler

Clean mounting surfaces of muffler (N) and cylinder
head (J) of any dirt, debris and gasket material.

Lightly coat threads of mounting studs (K) with lubricant.

Place new exhaust gasket (L) on mounting studs.

Place muffler mounting flange on mounting studs.

Install two nuts (M) and torque to value listed in

Section

14 - Engine Specifications.

Install muffler guard (B) using two screws (A). Torque
screws to the value listed in

Section 14 - Engine

Specifications

Install the muffler deflector as instructed in

Install muffler

deflector.
