Chapter 8: Installing hutch options.
REQUIRED TOOLS
• Rubber Mallet
• Cordless Drill with #2 Phillips
• #2 Phillips Screwdriver
Slides always align to the front of the bed (finished edge). If you have a slide that is
shorter than the rest, this is for the bottom location near the baseboard notch (we
shorten the bottom drawer for custom baseboard notches made extra deep).
Follow the steps in this
chapter depending on how the
side hutch was configured.
Chapter 8:
Installing hutch options.
Detach each drawer slide into
two parts. First, pull out the
drawer slide and locate the
plastic release lever on the back
side. Pushing up or down on the lever will allow the inner slide to
pull out all the way.

If the beds squeaks during
rotation, the pivot points can be
lubricated with WD-40 or silicone
spray. Once sprayed, you should
open and close the bed several
times to work in the lubricant.
Align the steel mechanism cover to the mechanism
and then slide downward. The top of the cover will
wrap around the mechanism with the two holes
towards the bottom. In the bottom hole (the hole that
aligns with the cylinder) insert a
wood screw from
Hardware Card #2 to secure.

To determine the proper tension,
the mattress needs to
be in place. When open, the bed legs should rest on the
fl oor without lifting. When closed, the bed should stay closed
without falling back open. Tension is adjusted by either
adding or removing springs. If tension needs to be adjusted,
the Bed Face Panel can be removed (see the last page in
this booklet), however a
much easier method exists by using coins or washers
between the spring coils. For details of that method, visit:

STEP 2
If the bed won’t close all the way and it feels blocked,
DO NOT FORCE IT! Verify
the headboard is adjusted for your mattress thickness (Chapter 1) and pillows
are not near the headboard when folded up or have been completely removed.
