Chapter 4: Assembling the Bed Face Panel unit.
Position the frame
1/2” from
“Mechanism End” and centered
along the left and right sides.
Attach frame to doors using
screws from hardware card #7.
We recommend using a bit holder
to insert screws. When attaching screws,
attach the 4
corners fi rst, which will help keep the frame aligned.
The position of the frame over the doors is crucial,
so double check alignment as you insert screws.
Additionally, DO NOT skip holes.
Full, Queen and King beds: Before attaching the frame,
make sure the doors are pushed together so there’s
no gap between the doors and they are even on
the ends. With the doors properly aligned, add tape
down the seam to keep them in position.

Critical Step

Do not pre-drill holes for the screws otherwise they will not hold properly.
Screws should be inserted directly into the wood panels.
Failure to leave a 1/2” between the doors and frame on the mechanism end
will cause misalignment later during assembly.
Bed Size
Steel Stiffener Spacing
Twin & Full
19” - 38” - 57” (every 19” center-to-center)
Twin-XL, Queen
and King
20 ¼” - 40 ½” - 60 ¾” (every 20 ¼” center-to-center)
Position steel support stiff eners according
to the dimensions listed in the table
below. Measurements are from either the
“Mechanism End” or “Frame End”. Take
care not to cover handle holes. Attach
with screws from hardware card #7.

METROPOLITAN MURPHY BEDS: To prevent screws
from poking through the thin areas, you
must
measure accurately
. Additionally,
do not screw into
the previously marked screw-free zone
.
Once the 4 corners are attached, check the measurements again to verify the frame
is centered correctly on the sides, verify the 1/2” along the mechanism end, the
doors are pushed together and that the doors are properly aligned on the ends.
