7.6.1. NightKNIFE

DANGER

Risk of patient burns with brittle or defective insulation!

Replace instrument components with damaged
insulation.

Jaw insert

1. For NightKNIFE with exchangeable blade: install a new

blade (see section 4.1, page 18).

2. Check the jaws

for proper opening and closing.

3. Visually inspect the ball on drawrod

for damage.

4. Move the sliding tube

on the jaw insert

to check for

ease of motion and the initial position of the blade

5. Visually inspect the blade

for damage.

6. Check the insulation of drawrod

for damage.

7. Check the coating of jaw insert

for damage.

8. Check the seal ring

for damage.

9. Check whether the drawrod

or sliding tube

bent.

Shank tube

1.  Visually inspect the insulation for damage.
2.  Check whether the shank tube is bent.
3.  Check that the fluted knob

can be turned easily.

4. Check the trigger

for proper operation.

Handle

1. Check the ratchet lever

, locking lever

and

buttons

for ease of motion.

2. Check cable connector

for damage and corrosion.
