• Make sure your hands are dry before you touch
the appliance.
• Unplug the appliance before assembling
or disassembling it and before cleaning or
servicing the unit.
• Engine driven appliances: beware of sharp
and/or moving parts. Always keep your hands
away from the moving parts when using,
cleaning or servicing the appliance.
• Heating devices: wait until the appliance has
cooled down before you touch the housing and
parts of the unit.
Be extra careful during cleaning and servicing.
APPLICATION
• The kettle may only be used to boil water. The
appliance is not suitable for boiling other liquids.
• Use only tap water or use distilled water when
possible for optimum taste and to minimize
scale build-up in the kettle. Never use
carbonated water!

PLACEMENT OF THE APPLIANCE
• Place the appliance on a stable, level and
spatter-free heat-resistant surface.
• Make sure there is enough space around the
appliance for the heat to escape and for
sufficient ventilation.
• Do not cover the appliance.
• Make sure the kettle does not come into contact
with flammable materials.
• Keep the appliance away from heat sources.
• Make sure that children have no access to stored
appliances.
ADDITIONAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
• The lid of the kettle must be closed during use.
When the lid is not properly closed, the steam
cut-off will not work! Check whether the
removable filter has been correctly placed in
the kettle. See “Removing and Inserting the
Filter” for instructions on inserting the filter.
Do not omit the filter. If you do, the steam cut-
off system will not work.
• Be careful with hot water and steam so as to
avoid burns.
• Only use the base that came with the appliance.
• Never take the kettle off the base when it is
switched on.
• Only switch the appliance on once the kettle is
filled with sufficient tap water.
• Do not move the kettle when it is in use.
• If the kettle is heated with no water inside, the
internal safety mechanism will automatically
turn the kettle off.
• Make sure the water level is always between
the minimum and maximum markings on
the water level indicator before switching on
the appliance. If you exceed the maximum water
level, the kettle will boil over and hot water could
be forcefully sprayed over the edge.
FIRST USE
Before using for the first time, it is recommended
to clean the interior of the kettle thoroughly. Please
follow the procedures below before using the kettle:
• Remove all packing materials and make sure
that the product has been received in good
condition.
• Taking care to keep the electrical components
on the exterior of the kettle dry, wipe the interior
of the kettle with a damp cloth. If your hand does
not fit inside the kettle, swish warm, soapy water
around the interior of the kettle with the lid
closed.
• Rinse out the inside of the kettle thoroughly with
water.
• With a damp cloth, gently wipe off the exterior of
the kettle. Do not wipe electrical components, as
this may cause damage to the unit.
• Dry all parts completely.
• It is recommended to run your kettle through
one boiling cycle before using it to consume
beverages. Following the instructions in “Boiling
Water”, boil a full kettle of water. When water
has boiled, pour it out and rinse the inside of the
kettle once more. The kettle is now ready for
use.
