1. Unpack the contents of the Gripple surface-mount safety cable kit (
839761-
0010 ):
Safety cable (1 end with 90° eyelet, 1 open end) Washer
Gripple fastener M4 screw
Gripple removal tool M5 screw
Gripple installation guidelines M6 screw
2. Attach the 90° eyelet on the safety cable to the loudspeaker using the
included washer and the corresponding screw:
FreeSpace DS 100SE and 40SE: Use the M4 screw.
FreeSpace DS 16SE: Use the M5 screw. Note that the insert on the
loudspeaker is a self-tapping insert.
FreeSpace 3 Series II Acoustimass Module: Remove and discard a screw
from the rear cover plate, and attach the eyelet to that screw hole using
the included M6 screw and washer.
3. Insert the open end of the safety cable into the Gripple fastener. Wrap that
open end around the building structure or structural attachment point.
4. Insert the cable back through the Gripple fastener by sliding the cable into its
second insertion hole. The Gripple fastener locks the cable into place.
You may need to adjust both sides of the loop through the Gripple fastener
to maintain space between the Gripple fastener and the building structure
or structural attachment point. This provides enough cable length for future
adjustment.
Note: Alternatively, secure the other end of the safety cable to an eye screw
above the loudspeaker instead of the entire structure.
5. Remove slack from the safety cable such that, in the event of a fall, the
loudspeaker will not drop more than 152 millimeters (6 inches) from its
mounted location before it is retained by the safety cable.
