Check for correct mains voltage:
The voltage
of the power source must agree with the voltage
specified on the nameplate of the machine.
Equipment marked with 230 V can also be con-
nected to 220 V.
Switching On and Off
Switching on:
Slide the On/Off switch
1
forward.
Switching off:
Release the On/Off switch
1
.
Continuous use
Switching on:
Slide the On/Off switch
1
forward and press down to the
front until it latches.
Switching off:
Press down the On/Off switch
1
to the rear - the switch springs to
the off position.
■
Apply the machine to the workpiece only
when switched on.
Hold the machine at an angle of 80° to 90° to the
sheet metal surface.
Do not tilt the machine to the side.
Do not load the machine so heavily that it comes
to a standstill.
Cutting curves: Do not tilt the machine and work
only with a low feed rate.
Before starting to cut, lightly oil the cutting line on
the sheet metal.
Sharp cutters result in good cutting performance
and protect the machine.
☞
Never cut with blunt cutters.
Replace or sharpen the cutters as required.
A high feed rate significantly decreases the per-
formance capability of the machine and reduces
the service life of the cutters.
■
Before any work on the machine itself, pull
the mains plug.
The cutters
4
and
5
are identical, have four cut-
ting edges each and can be interchanged.
When the cutting performance is inadequate, ro-
tate each cutter by 90° or replace.
For this purpose, loosen the screw
7
on the re-
spective cutter, rotate the cutter by 90° and
retighten the screw.
Take care that the lower cutter rests against the
set screw
6
.
Adjusting the Cutters
Cutter Clearance a
The cutter clearance
a
(air gap be-
tween the cutters) depends on the
thickness of the material to be cut.
The cutter clearance is adjusted at
the factory and need not be
changed.
When working primarily with ductile, brittle or thin
sheet metal, the following values give optimum
cutting quality:
Cutter Clearance a
Metal Thickness
0.1 mm
0.3–0.6 mm
0.25 mm
0.8–1.2 mm
0.3 mm
1.3–1.6 mm
For softer or more ductile materials, the clear-
ance
a
must be decreased; for harder or more
brittle materials, increased.
Loosen the screw
7
and set the lower cutter
5
to
the required cutter clearance
a
with the set
screw
6
. Retighten the screw
7
.
■
The cutters must not touch each other.

☞
For safe and proper working, always keep
the machine and the ventilation slots clean.
If the machine should fail despite the rigorous
manufacturing and testing procedures, repair
should be carried out by an authorised after-sales
service centre for Bosch power tools.
