Adjusting the Volume
From the Main menu, touch
Volume
, or press and hold the
SPEAK
key. Touch the and to adjust the volume of the speaker.
Touch
Mute
(or press and hold the
SPEAK
key)
to silence the
audio output. Touch Mute again (or press and hold the
SPEAK
key
again) to unmute the Navigator III.
Touch
Settings
to open the Audio Settings page. Touch
Advanced
to adjust the volume levels of the navigation prompts.
Customizing the General Settings
Press the
MENU
key >
Settings

General

GPS
—turn on and off GPS (
Use Indoors
), set your location, and
turn on and off WAAS/EGNOS.
Language
—change the voice and text language.
Keyboard
—select the West European or English only keyboard.
Audio
—turn on or off various tones. Also select how much the
volume increases as your speed increases.
Proximity Alerts
—adjust the visual and audio notifications for
custom POIs.
Time
—select the
Time Zone
and
Time Format
. Turn
Daylight
Saving
on or off, or set to
Auto
.
Units
—change units of measure to
Metric
or
Statute
.
Safe Mode
—turn on or off the Safe Mode, which disables all
unit functions that require significant operator attention and could
become a distraction while driving. For example, when Safe Mode
is on, you cannot search for a location while the vehicle is moving.
Changing the Map Settings
Press the

Map Detail
—adjust the amount of detail shown on the map.
Displaying more detail causes the map to redraw slowly.
Orientation
—change the perspective of the map.
Color Mode
—choose
Day
for a bright background. Select
Night
for a black background. Select
Auto
to automatically switch
between the two at sunrise and sunset.
Auto Zoom
—disable or enable automatic zooming on the map for
optimal viewing.
