ADJUSTMENT

To increase the stiffness of

the damping characteristic:

Use the tool from the on-

board toolkit to turn adjust-

ing screw

in direction

board toolkit to turn adjust-

ing screw

in direction

Rebound stage, basic

setting, rear

Turn adjuster knob to the

limit position in direction

then turn it 5 clicks in direc-

tion

. (with rider 85 kg)

SWINGING ARM

Adjusting swinging arm

The swinging arm pivot point

can be adjusted to any of five

stages. Additional tools such

as an engine lifter or footrest

stand are required, however,

they will not be dealt with in

detail here. If you are not sure

whether this work is within

your capability, contact a spe-

cialist workshop, preferably an

authorised BMW Motorrad re-

tailer.

Adjusting swinging arm pivot

point

Make sure the ground is level

and firm and place the motor-

cycle on its stand.

ATTENTION

Vehicle toppling to side

Risk of damage to parts if

vehicle topples

Make sure that the vehicle

is secured so that it cannot

topple sideways.

Lift motorcycle with an engine

lifter or another suitable jack,

so that there is no load on the

rear wheel swinging arm.

Loosen quick-release axle

nut

Loosen lock nuts

on left and

right.
