Appendix D: Stat Mux
Configuration Transfer Facilities
D.1 Scope
This appendix explains the facilities for stat mux configuration transfer and their use during configuration
management activities.
D.2 Configuration Storage and Transfer
Figure D-1 shows the organization of the main stat mux configuration storages.

TORAGES
Each stat mux unit includes temporary and permanent (non-volatile) configuration storages.
The stat mux’s non-volatile configuration storage includes two sections, one for its own (local) configuration,
and another for the configuration of the remote stat mux. The temporary storages are part of the RAM
(working) memory serving the internal stat mux microcomputer, where the microcomputer can easily access
them to read and modify the configuration parameters. The mux uses a section of temporary storage for local
configuration preparation. The mux uses another section to store the remote stat mux configuration and work
on it. You can use this temporary storage to examine the remote configuration on the local terminal and as a
scratch memory for preparing a new configuration for the remote stat mux.
As indicated in Figure D-1, you can load the default configuration into the working configuration memory
when you reset the stat mux while the INIT/NOR jumper is set to INIT (this is explained in
Chapter 3
: you
reset the stat mux when you turn it on, and also under specific commands).
