Important safety information
RIM recommends that you use only single-use alkaline (AA) or
rechargeable NiMH batteries in this unit. There is a list in this guide
of recommended brands of rechargeable NiMH batteries. The use of
any other battery might disable the handheld and might be
dangerous. For added protection during a lightning storm, or when
the handheld and charging cradle are left unattended and unused
for long periods of time, unplug the charging cradle from the wall.
This will prevent damage to the handheld due to lightning or
power-line surges. Only plug in the charging cradle AC wall
adapter if you are going to use the recharging feature.
Unplug the charging cradle from the wall and refer the handheld
and charging cradle for service to qualified service personnel if:
• the power supply cord or plug is damaged
• liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the handheld
or charging cradle
• the handheld or charging cradle has been exposed to rain or
water
• the handheld or charging cradle has been dropped or damaged
in any way
• the handheld or charging cradle does not operate normally by
following the instructions contained in this manual
• the handheld or charging cradle exhibits a distinct change in
performance.
Unplug the cradle before cleaning. Do not use liquid or aerosol
cleaners. Rather, use a damp cloth to clean the unit.
