CHARCOAL GRILL SAFETY
INSTRUCTIONS

griddle section of your unit

cause severe burns.

cooking grate in place.

cooking grate while grill
contains hot coals.

mitts/gloves when using
included lifter to remove
cooking grate to protect
hands from burns.

DO nOT wear loose clothing
when using grill or allow hair
to come in contact with grill.
• Do not use gasoline, kerosene, or
alcohol to light charcoal. Using
any of these products (or similar
products) could cause a flare up,
flash fire, or explosion. Severe
bodily injury may result.
• If choosing to use lighting fluid,
only use lighting fluid approved
for lighting charcoal.
DO nOT use lighting fluid if
the griddle section of unit
is already lit.
• Carefully read manufacturer’s
warnings and instructions on
the charcoal lighting fluid and
charcoal packaging prior to use of
their product.
• Store charcoal lighting fluid safely
away from cooking station.
DO nOT add instant light char-
coal briquettes to an existing
fire.
Flash fire may result in bodily
injury or property damage.
• Do not light grill without slide-
out ash pan in place. Always allow
grill and all components to cool
completely before handling.
• Never leave coals and ashes
in grill unattended. Remove
remaining coals and ashes before
leaving appliance unattended.
• Make sure coals and ashes
are completely extinguished
before removing.
• Use caution to protect yourself
and property.
• Carefully place remaining coals
and ashes in a non-combustible
metal container and saturate
completely with water. Allow
coals and water to remain in
metal container 24 hours prior
to disposal.
• Extinguished coals and ashes
should be placed a safe distance
from all structures and combus-
tible materials.
• With a garden hose, completely
wet surface beneath and around
grill to extinguish any ashes,
coals or embers which may
have fallen during cooking or
cleaning process.
• It is recommended to pre-burn
your grill prior to first use.
Lighting a small charcoal fire
simulates the cooking process,
and will burn off any residues
or protective oils created during
manufacturing.
For Your Safety
• Maximum weight on side shelf (if
present) is 10 lbs.
• The grease tray must be removed
and emptied after each use.
• Do not remove grease tray until
griddle has completely cooled.
• Do not obstruct the flow of
combustion and ventilation air.
• Clean griddle often, prefer-
ably after each use. (Please
reference the Cleaning Your
Griddle section of the Care &
Maintenance chapter.)

cause griddle to warp.
