Chart 1 Daily Inspection Items
Weekly Inspection and Operation Checks
Bishamon recommends that several items be inspected on a weekly basis. In addition to the daily inspection, the following items should be
inspected every week. If any of the following conditions exist, REMOVE the UniLift from service and contact a qualifi ed service person.
Inspect or check the following items with the forks lowered.
1.
Raise and lower the forks completely. During operation, listen for any unusual noises that may indicate binding or worn components. The
operation should be smooth and quiet.
2.
Operate the parking brake to ensure smooth operation. With the brake pedal depressed, push or pull on the UniLift to ensure proper wheel
engagement.
3.
Visually inspect the mast channels, cylinder and lifting sling. Lower the forks completely and turn the key to the OFF position. As
demonstrated in Figure 29, gently pull the mast cover to the side and inspect the cylinder area. The channels should be smooth, free of
fi lings and lightly coated with lubricant. The cylinder area should be free of leaks and excess hydraulic fl uid. Visually inspect the sling and
sling wheel bracket. All fasteners and retaining rings should be in place. The sling should be free of snags, tears, cuts, broken stitches
or excessive wear. If any of these conditions exist, immediately remove the UniLift from service and replace the sling. For additional
“Removal From Service Criteria” refer to OSHA 1910.184 and ASME B30.9. Both recommend a sling be removed from service if any of
the following conditions exist.
• Snags, punctures, tears, or cuts
• Broken or worn stitches
• Excessive abrasive wear
• Distortion of fi ttings
Bishamon recommends replacing the sling every two (2) years or fi ve thousand (5000) cycles.
4.
Following the inspection, release the mast cover and allow it to retract. If the cover has wrinkles, gently pull the cover downward on both
sides at the same time and allow it to retract. The cover should now be straight and wrinkle free.
