You should also be aware that frames and upholstery parts can
become very cold in winter. If possible, do not leave the wheelchair
outside in cold weather.
•
When transferring between wheelchair and bed, please always
ensure that: both locking brakes are applied and you swivel the
foot plates upwards or outwards (when getting into or out of the
wheelchair).
•
The Steward is not suitable for carrying people sitting in the
wheelchair over obstacles, such as steps.
•
Reporting incidents. The operator or user must immediately report
1. any malfunction
2. any change to the features or performance as well as
3. any inaccuracies in the marking or operating instructions of a
medical device, which has or could have led to death or to a serious
deterioration of the health of a patient, an employee or a third
party, to the federal institute for medical devices. This institute will
immediately forward the notification to the operator’s competent
authority and also inform the manufacturer and the manufacturer’s
competent authority.
2.2. Travelling in road traffic
The wheelchair is designed for indoor and outdoor use. Please be aware
that you are travelling in traffic on public roads and must comply with
the road traffic regulations. Ensure that you do not endanger other
traffic users through inconsiderate driving, especially on pavements.
2.3. Purpose
The wheelchair is designed solely for transporting people with impaired
mobility with the specified indications. The maximum user load is
100 kg.
Please note:
We can only offer a warranty if the product is used in accordance with
the specified conditions and for the intended purposes.
2.4. Indication
Inability to walk or severely impaired mobility as a result of:
•
Paralysis
•
Limb loss
•
Limb defect/deformity
•
Joint contractures
2.5. Contraindications
The wheelchair is not suitable for use if the user is unable to sit.
2.6. Declaration of conformity
As the manufacturer of the product, B+B declares that the “Steward”
wheelchair meets the requirements of Directive 93/42/EEC in full.
2.7. Responsibility
We are able to provide warranty cover only if the product is used in
accordance with the specified conditions and for the intended purposes,
if modifications, extensions, repairs and maintenance work are carried
out only by persons authorised to do so by us and if the wheelchair is
used in accordance with all instructions for use.
2.8. Service life
If used as intended, and if the safety, care and maintenance instructions
are observed, the expected service life of the wheelchair is up to 5 years.
Beyond this period, the wheelchair can continue to be used provided
the product is in a safe condition.
