6.3.1. Charging Procedure
First Charging:
To achieve maximum charging capacity of the batteries, proceed as
follows:
•
Drive until the factory-charged batteries are down to 2 bars on the
LED display.
•
Then recharge the batteries as described below (app. 16 hrs).
•
Drive until the batteries are down again to 2 bars on the LED
display.
•
Recharge the batteries again as described below.
Only use approved charging units to recharge the
batteries (see Technical Data). Also observe the in-
structions in the charging unit’s operating manual!
•
Before turning on the charging unit, check whether the supply
voltage is 230 V.
•
First turn off the wheelchair.
•
Connect the charging unit to the wheelchair. The charging jack is
located under the control panel to one side.
•
Put the power plug of the charging unit into the power outlet
(230 V) and turn on the charging unit.
•
The charging indicator on the charging unit shows the status of the
charging process.
•
Flash
Green: Standby
•
Solid Red: Charging
•
Solid Green: Fully Charged, the charging unit is switched on.
•
Flash Red:
Error
•
After completing the charging process, pull the power plug and
disconnect the charging unit from the wheelchair.
6.3.2. Exchanging Batteries
Be extremely careful when working with the batteries. Avoid working
with metal tools, do not touch the battery terminals and observe the
instructions of the manufacturer.
Warning! This work should only be carried out by a
qualified mobility dealer. There is a risk to life!
Only use batteries that are approved for this wheelchair (see Technical
Data).
Make sure the wheelchair is turned off before starting to exchange
the batteries.
•
Loosen the fitting holding the batteries in place and pull out the
battery sled.
•
Loosen the cover of the battery compartment.
•
Loosen the battery cable, first the red one and then the black one.
You won’t need a tool to do this.
•
Carefully lift the batteries out on their straps.
•
Lift the new batteries into their designated place and reconnect the
terminals. Observe the correct color coding (red and black).
•
Secure the battery cover with the Velcro strap and slide the
battery compartment back into its original position. It will catch
automatically.

When the service life of the batteries has expired, i.e.
when they can no longer be charged sufficiently, the
batteries may not be disposed of with the ordinary
household garbage. Old batteries are taken back by
the dealer and disposed of properly when buying a
new battery from him!
