MAJOR COMPONENTS 2.1
]
BRAKE PEDAL:
The rear
brake pedal is located
on the right forward foot control. Do not ride
with your foot resting on the brake pedal. This will cause
premature wear of the brake pads and can reduce your
braking ability.
B
REAR BRAKE PEDAL
Brakes should be applied uniformly and evenly to prevent
wheels from locking up. A balance between rear and front
braking is best.
Brake Pads:
1.
Inspect at every service interval.
2.
Life expectancy is 1,500 to 2,500 under normal
riding conditions.
Any attempt to modify the
frame of your Big Dog
Motorcycle is extremely dangerous and
will void the manufacturers’ warranty. Altering the frame
in any way takes the motorcycle out of its original
configuration and may expose it to stresses that it was
never intended to withstand.
FRONT SUSPENSION:
Big Dog Motorcycles uses two
types of telescopic front fork assemblies, conventional and
inverted. Both types of forks act as front shock absorbers.
The front suspension is vital to your motorcycles handling.
Broken or worn parts need immediate attention. Do not
attempt to service the suspension. Please contact a Big
Dog Motorcycles Authorized Dealer or Service Center for
any problems with these components.
REAR SUSPENSION:
The 2005 Big Dog motorcycles
either have a “rigid” or “soft” rear suspension. A rigid
frame has no rear shock absorbers at all. The soft rear
suspension has hidden shocks.
It is important to pay close attention to the way your Big
Dog motorcycle handles and if there is a change in handling
you should immediately have the problem diagnosed by an
Authorized Dealer or Service Center.
FRAME CONSTRUCTION:
The frame is made from
high-strength seamless steel tubing and utilizes a high ten-
sile strength welding process to extremely tight tolerances.
