PROCEDURE
1.
Place a warning placard stating “
DO NOT USE
– CLEANING/DISINFECTING IN
PROGRESS
”. End users should be notified as well that this procedures in in progress.
2.
Prepare the
Tank
.
a.
Open the
Tank’s Bottom Valve
so it can be rinsed.
b.
Remove the cap on the
RO’s 3-Way Loop Return Valve “To Drain” Connection
.
c.
Connect
Hose#1
from the
RO’s 3-Way Loop Return Valve’s “To Drain”
Connection
to the
Tank’s Top Right Port
.
d.
Turn
RO’s 3-Way Loop Return Valve
to
“TO DRAIN”
.
e.
Start the
RO
in Operate Mode and rinse the
Tank
with RO product water.
-
Turn the
OPER-DISINFECT-OFF
Switch
to
OPER
.
-
Turn the
OPER-DISINFECT Keyed Switch
to
OPER
.
- Turn the
OPER-FLUSH Switch
to
OPER
.
* Press the
ALARM RESET
Button
if the alarm sounds.
* Once the RO is in good water quality it will start to fill the Tank.
f.
After rinsing the Tank, close the
Tank’s Bottom Valve
.
g.
Fill the Tank with RO product water.
-
IF CLEANING
, fill
Tank
with 15 gallons (
approximately14 inches.)
-
IF DISINFECTING
, fill
Tank
with 20 gallons (
approximately 18 inches
).
h.
Once the Tank has been filled, turn the
RO’s 3-Way Loop Return Valve
to
“LOOP RETURN
”.
3.
Prepare
RO
and
Hoses
.
a.
Disconnect the
RO’s Drain Hose
from the
RO’s “To Drain” Connection
and connect
Hose#2
from that connection to the
Tank’s Top Left Port
.
b.
Connect
Hose#3
from the
RO Pump’s Clean/Disinfect Ball Valve
to the
Tank’s Bottom
Valve
.
4.
Prime
Hose#3
.
a.
Loosen the Parker connection at the
RO Pump’s Clean/Disinfect Ball Valve
.
b.
Open the
Tank’s Bottom Valve,
prime the hose, and then tighten the loosened Parker
connection.
c.
Open the
RO Pump’s Clean/Disinfect Ball Valve
.

NOTE:
If this hose
hasn’t been properly primed the pump will air lock and could cause damage
to the pump.
5.
Put the
RO
in disinfect mode.
-
Turn the
OPER-DISINFECT-OFF
Switch
to
DISINFECT
.
-
Turn the
OPER-DISINFECT Keyed Switch
to
DISINFECT
.
- Turn the
OPER-FLUSH Switch
to
OPER
.
*
Verify flow by looking at the Product and Reject Flow-Meters,
and visually see if water flowing back in to the Tank otherwise re-prime Hose#3. Also check for
leaks and correct before proceeding.
6.
IF CLEANING
… before beginning cleaning, take a baseline pH reading from the product water
returning into the
Tank
to compare to tests to follow.
7.
Add the appropriate amount of chemical
(cleaner or disinfectant).
-
IF DISINFECTING
, add 750 mL of either Renalin or MinnCare to the
Tank
.
-
IF CLEANING
, add 1 lb or 454 grams of either Low pH (
BWI-1000
) or High pH (
BWI-
2000
) cleaner to the Tank. If using a
graduated cylinder measure, 340 mL of Low pH
cleaner (BWI-1000) and 490 mL for High pH cleaner (BWI-2000
).
8.
After circulating for a few minutes verify the strength of chemical in the
Tank
using appropriate
medium for chemical used.
