7.11 Sensor Programming
This function allows you to run the programming of the sensors.
The programming includes:
• the assignment of an ID to the sensor;
• the programming of the sensor's behaviour in relation to the TPMS control
unit.
Based on the type of sensor, you can carry out both the operations or only
the first.
You can programme only aftermarket sensors.
If a sensor is replaced, if the ID changes, the control unit must be informed.
If the control unit is not capable of learning the new sensors automatically
after a test drive, that is to detect their type and position (for example: front
right wheel), the identification can be carried out thanks to the
971 TSP in
two ways:
1. by activating the sensor through the 971 TSP, with the vehicle stationary and
in relearn mode,
2.
by reading the IDs through the 971 TSP and writing them into the control
unit's memory using a diagnostic tool via OBD.
The identification mode varies based on the vehicle's features and on
what is indicated in the operating procedures in the device.
Below only the procedures related to the use of the device
subject of this manual are described.
