5 971 TSP
The
Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
is an electronic system
that controls the pressure of the air inside the tyres using sensors that
constantly communicate with the vehicle's control unit.
Thanks to the
TPMS
, the vehicle's control unit is able to supply the driver
with a large amount of information, among which a sudden change in the
tyre's pressure and autonomy in case of a puncture.
The
971 TSP
is a diagnostic device specifically designed and
manufactured for the maintenance of the sensors in the
TPMS
, and in
particular to allow appropriate interventions when the sensor in the tyre
valves is replaced.
The control unit in charge of the tyre pressure control, detected through the
sensors located on the wheels, must know the identification code (ID) of
the sensor of each wheel in order to be able to communicate with them.
If a sensor is replaced, if the ID changes, the control unit must be informed.
If the control unit is not capable of learning the new sensors automatically
after a test drive, that is to detect their type and position (for example: front
right wheel), the identification can be carried out thanks to the
971 TSP
in
two ways:
1.
by activating the sensor through the 971 TSP, with the vehicle stationary and
in relearn mode,
2.
by reading the IDs through the 971 TSP and writing them into the control
unit's memory using a diagnostic tool via OBD.
