Step 2: Connections
EUROCOM SL4208S Connections
Note: Before terminating any wire,
turn all equipment off and disconnect
the AC power.
SL4208S is equipped with a 5-position
terminal strip to access the transformer for
both 70 V and 100 V operation.
NOTE: The same terminals are used for
both 70 V and 100 V connections.
However, wattage doubles when using a
100 V amplifier as opposed to a 70 V
amplifier. When using a 100 V amplifier,
the subwoofer’s lowest wattage rating
(10 W) is unavailable.
Add up the total transformer taps of all the
loudspeakers to be powered, and ensure
the power requirement does not exceed
80% of the HI-Z amplifier’s available power
output. Always factor 20% for peak output
headroom and line loss.
Examples
Diagrams for both of these examples can
be found in the Hookup section of this
Quick Start Guide.
NOTE: For best results, set your satellite
speakers into High Pass (HP) mode.
SL4208S parallel with full-range
speakers from single 70 V / 100 V
amplifier channel
As shown in the first system example,
a simple daisy chain connection between the
SL4208S and other satellite speakers in
High Pass (HP) mode will yield good results.
The SL4208S can be added anywhere
throughout the distributed speaker line.
The SL4208S’ built-in low pass filter will roll
off high frequencies and eliminate
“localization” of the subwoofer.
System requires at least a 70 W amplifier.

SL4208S powered from a dedicated
70 V / 100 V amplifier
The second system example shows a system
with the subwoofer and satellite speakers
connected to their own dedicated amplifier
channels. Using dedicated amplifier
channels will provide additional balance
control between subwoofer and satellite
speakers in High Pass (HP) mode, as well as
improved overall dynamic range.
System requires at least a
240 W amplifier.
Wire Gauge Suggestions
For cable lengths up to 300 feet
(appr. 92 meters), use 16/2 twisted pair,
stranded speaker cable. For cable lengths
ranging from 300 to 600 feet (appr. 92 to
183 meters), use 14/2 twisted pair,
stranded speaker cable. (Use plenum-rated
cable if required by local codes or AHJs.)
Rigging Instructions
Location Considerations for
the SL4208S
Additional output can be attained by
placing the SL4208S near adjacent flat
surfaces (near walls, ceilings, or in corners).
“Boundary loading” into a corner near
the ceiling will provide optimum results.
Avoid placing the SL4208S in a “free space”
environment with no coupling surfaces.
Mounting
The SL4208S is designed to be shelf or floor
mounted. The rubber isolation feet may be
easily relocated to accommodate horizontal
or vertical orientation.
Aerial Suspension
Alternatively, the SL4208S may be
suspended using threaded rod and
structural strut in open
ceiling configurations.
WARNING!
Suspension of
overhead speaker systems
requires training and expertise.
Improper rigging of a suspended speaker
may result in injury, death, equipment
damage, and legal liability. Installation
must be carried out by fully qualified
installers, in accordance with all the
required safety codes and standards that
are applied at the place of installation.
5:1 design factor is the generally
accepted design standard; however,
legal requirements for suspension vary by
municipality. Please consult your local
safety standards office before installing any
product. If you lack the skills, training,
and proper ancillary equipment to suspend
a speaker system, do not attempt to do so.
ONLY LOAD-RATED &
CERTIFIED HARDWARE
SHOULD BE USED FOR
INSTALLATION OF THIS PRODUCT.
Loudspeakers flown in
theaters, nightclubs,
conference centers, or other
places of work and entertainment must be
provided with an independent,
correctly-rated, and securely-attached
secondary safety, in addition to the
principle suspension point(s).
This secondary safety must prevent
the loudspeaker from dropping
more than 6" should the principle
suspension device fail.
