5.1 Replacing and/or sharpening the blades

To prevent imbalance in the trimmer, the blades must be replaced and/or
sharpened two by two.

The maximum weight difference between the two blades in one set is 10
grams.

If a blade is bent or cracked, it must always be replaced. Aligning or repairing
such blades is not permitted.

The blades may only be sharpened down to a minimum width of 42 mm as
shown on the following page. The drawing is full-scale size so that it can be
used as a caliper.

Blade fastening parts must be replaced when any sort of excessive damage
and/or wear is discovered.

The minimum wear threshold for the knife ring is shown in illustration 12. It is
not the intention that the knife rings are only replaced when these are less
than the wear threshold. For reasons of safety, the knife rings must be
replaced together with a new set of blades, bolts, rings, and nuts.

If these necessary parts (knife rings, bolts, rings, nuts, and blades) are
replaced, there will be no danger of the blades failing during normal use of the
machine.
