Specimen Type
Whole Blood
Anticoagulant
Use the anticoagulant for patient specimens that is recommended for the flow cytometry
application being tested. Follow the specimen tube manufacturer’s recommended procedure
for the volume of anticoagulant to use.
Specimen Size
5-1,000 µL. (Volumes over 100 µL are delivered in multiple aliquots. Maximum aliquot
volume is 100 µL.)
Specimen Tube Size
See SPECIMEN TUBE SIZES in the Instructions For Use manual for a detailed list of
acceptable closed-vial specimen tubes.
Specimen Cassette Sizes
Three sizes of specimen cassettes for tubes are available for holding:

10-13 mm tube cassette for

13 X 75 mm specimen tubes
t
3 mL (10.25 X 64 mm) pediatric tubes in 3 mL tube adaptors
t
2 mL (10.25 X 47 or 50 mm) pediatric tubes in 2 mL tube adaptors
t
Sarstedt tubes
Note : Sarstedt tubes must be set up by your Beckman Coulter Representative.
Do not mix these tubes in the same cassette. Each tube type will go in its own cassette
based on the cassette bar code.

Be sure to label each cassette with the correct bar-code label.

WARNING Risk of operator injury. Risk of biohazardous condition due to specimen tube breakage. Risk of
damage to sample probe. Failure to use the proper bar-code-labeled cassette based on the type of tube can
result in a probe crash on the bottom of the tube, a bent probe, possible tube breakage, and specimen
spillage. Ensure that you use the proper bar-code-labeled cassette based on the type of tube.
