GENERAL CARE & MAINTENANCE
Very little care and maintenance is required. Your Bayou
™
Grill is constructed from heavy 10-gauge steel
and coated with 1200˚F high heat resistant paint that maintains its long lasting appearance. Following
these maintenance tips will greatly prolong the life of your grill.
GRILL EXTERIOR
Can be cleaned with a warm, soapy water. Do not use wire brushes or scrapers as they could scratch
or chip the paint. Over time, spot touch-up with high heat grill paint may be required.
STAINLESS GRATE
The 5.5 mm thick stainless rods will hold up to extensive use for many years. For easiest cleaning, use
a long handled brush to remove food particles while grill is still warm. After grill has cooled, grates can
be removed and cleaned with warm soapy water.
FRONT SHELF
Shelves are made from steel, coated with a wood-look paint. Maximum load weight is 20 pounds.
TEMPERATURE GAUGE
A thermometer is a sensitive measuring device that can malfunction overtime after exposure to outside
weather, moisture and heat. For a replacement temperature gauge, contact www.thebayou.com for the
dealer nearest you.
GRILL INTERIOR
Both ash and grease are acidic and can eventually rust or corrode the bottom of your grill. When not
being used for extended periods, remove all ash and close dampers to further extend the life of your grill.
CLEANING OUT THE ASHES
Wearing work gloves and using grate lifter, remove cooking grates from barrel chamber and firebox.
Remove charcoal grate from both chambers. Using ash rake, rake ash across bottom of barrel chamber
and empty into firebox. Position a pail under the damper on side of firebox, and open damper door.
Rake ash through damper opening into the pail. Re-insert charcoal grates and cooking grates, and you
are ready for the next grilling adventure.
WARNING
• Do not attempt to remove hot coals or ash from grill; doing so could cause serious burns and injury.
Allow grill to cool down for 24 hours before removing coals and ash.
CAUTION
• Do not use shelf as a chopping block as that will scratch and damage the paint. Lower the front
shelf when not in use.
CAUTION
• If using a grill cover, never place on the grill until grill has cooled completely to outside ambient
temperature.
