• If you have questions which remain unanswered by these operating instructions,
contact our technical support service or other technical personnel.
•
Ensure that there is sufficient ventilation when the charger is plugged into the
mains. Never cover the product and the batteries during use.
•
Ensure that there is sufficient distance between the product and other objects.
Keep the product away from flammable materials (e.g. curtains and paper), liquids
(e.g. petrol) and gases, as these present a fire hazard.
b)
Rechargeable batteries
• Correct polarity must be observed while inserting the rechargeable batteries.
• Rechargeable batteries should be removed from the device if it is not used for
a long period of time to avoid damage through leaking. Leaking or damaged
rechargeable batteries might cause acid burns when in contact with skin, therefore
use suitable protective gloves to handle corrupted rechargeable batteries.
• Rechargeable batteries must be kept out of reach of children. Do not leave
rechargeable batteries lying around, as there is a risk, that children or pets may
swallow them.
•
Rechargeable batteries must not be dismantled, short-circuited or thrown into fire.
Never attempt to recharge disposable batteries. There is a risk of explosion!
• Never damage lithium-ion batteries. Damaging the casing of rechargeable
batteries may cause an explosion or a fire!
• Charge lithium-ion batteries regularly, even when you are not using them. Due to
the rechargeable battery technology being used, you do not need to discharge the
rechargeable battery first.
• Never leave batteries unattended when they are charging.
c) Electrical connection
• Do not charge standard disposable (non-rechargeable) batteries, otherwise they
may catch fire or explode! Non-rechargeable batteries are only designed to be
used once and must be disposed of properly when they are empty.
•
Never charge damaged, leaking or deformed batteries. This may lead to a fire or
explosion! Dispose of any rechargeable batteries that are no longer usable.
• Leaking or damaged batteries may cause skin burns. When handling damaged
batteries, always use protective gloves.
• Observe all safety and charging instructions provided by the battery manufacturer.
• Before connecting to the mains, make sure that your local AC mains voltage
matches the specifications on the nameplate.
• The device was constructed according to protection class II. Only a proper mains
socket (230 V/AC, 50 Hz) of the public supply net must be used as voltage source.
•
Never pour any liquids over electrical devices or put objects filled with liquid
right next to the device. If liquid or an object enters the interior of the device
nevertheless, first power down the respective socket (e.g. switch off circuit
breaker) and then pull the mains plug from the mains socket. Do not operate the
product anymore afterwards, but take it to a specialist workshop.
• Never use the product immediately after it has been brought from a cold room into
a warm one. The condensation generated could destroy the product. In addition,
the power adapter may generate a fatal electric shock! Allow the product to reach
room temperature before connecting it to the power supply and putting it to use.
This may take several hours.
• The mains outlet must be located near to the device and be easily accessible.
• Never pull the mains plug from the socket by pulling at the cable. Always pull it
from the mains socket using the intended grips.
• Unplug the mains plug from the mains socket if you do not use the device for an
extended period of time.
• Disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket in thunderstorms for reasons
of safety.
• Make sure that the mains cable is not squeezed, bent, damaged by sharp edges
or put under mechanical stress. Avoid excessive thermal stress on the mains
cable from extreme heat or cold. Do not modify the mains cable. Otherwise the
mains cable may be damaged. A damaged mains cable can cause a deadly
electric shock.
• Do not touch the mains cable if it is damaged. First, power down the respective
mains socket (e.g. via the respective circuit breaker) and then carefully pull the
mains plug from the mains socket. Never use the product if the mains cable is
damaged.
• A damaged mains cable may only be replaced by the manufacturer, a workshop
commissioned by the manufacturer or a similarly qualified person, so as to prevent
any danger.
• Never plug in or unplug the mains plug when your hands are wet.
• When setting up the product, make sure that the cable is not pinched, kinked or
damaged by sharp edges.
• Always lay the cables so that nobody can trip over or become entangled in them.
This poses a risk of injury.
